About the Installation Script and System Requirements:
The CySight installer is packaged with its own application-level RPMs for MySQL, Tomcat, Java, and CySight’s core services. These are suitable for online and offline (air-gapped) environments. However, your system must have core system-level dependencies installed prior to or during the install.
The check_env.sh script bundled in the installer will check for and attempt to install the following packages using dnf or yum:
- Firewall/Networking: firewalld, ipset, iptables-nft, nftables, python3-firewall, python3-nftables
- I/O Libraries: libaio, libaio-devel
- Perl Modules: perl, perl-constant, perl-Errno, perl-interpreter, perl-libs, perl-Pod-Escapes, perl-Pod-Usage, perl-Scalar-List-Utils, perl-Text-Tabs+Wrap
- Python/GObject: python3-gobject, python3-gobject-base, python3-cairo, cairo, glib2, gobject-introspection
- Core Utilities: telnet, policycoreutils, policycoreutils-python-utils
Online Systems: These packages will be automatically installed if missing. Ensure the host has internet access and the appropriate repositories enabled.
Air-Gapped Systems: You must pre-install all required dependencies manually before running the installer. The archive does not include these base OS packages.
Important: The script also checks for pre-installed versions of Java or MySQL. These may interfere with bundled components. For safety:
- No packages are removed automatically.
- If conflicts are found, you'll be prompted to manually remove them (interactive mode).
- In automated or non-interactive runs, warnings are logged and installation continues.
This process ensures CySight is deployed cleanly into hardened environments with full control over all system-level packages and dependencies.
Recommended Minimal OS Installers (64-bit):
- RHEL 9 (Developer Subscription)
- Rocky Linux 9 (Minimal ISO)
- AlmaLinux 9 (Minimal ISO)
- CentOS Stream 9 (Minimal ISO)
- Oracle Linux 9 (Minimal ISO)
Use minimal OS installations to ensure optimal performance and compatibility. Avoid desktop or full environments.

About the OVA Image:
The CySight OVA is a pre-packaged virtual appliance designed for rapid deployment. Built on Rocky Linux 9.5, it includes a fully configured CySight system with unnecessary services stripped for optimal performance and security.
This image is ideal for lab evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, or virtualized production environments using VMware or KVM. For organizations needing total control over OS hardening or air-gapped deployments, the standalone installer is recommended.

Note: If the OVA version is older than the latest installer (v2.5.1.6), please contact CySight support to request an updated release.
